Privacy Policy
Dozio ("we", "us") is a sleep sounds app published by Adelie Studio, a one-person indie studio. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. We've kept it short and direct because sleep apps shouldn't need a small-print to be honest.
Dozio is an independent product. We do not share data with any sibling apps published by Adelie Studio.
1. What we collect
Advertising data (Google AdMob)
Free users see a small banner ad anchored to the bottom of the screen. There are no interstitial ads — we never interrupt the moment you're about to fall asleep. You can also tap an opt-in "watch ad to play unlimited" button on the timer to remove the 90-minute auto-sleep cap for one session. Those rewarded ads only play when you explicitly choose them.
To serve relevant ads, AdMob may use the device's resettable advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID / iOS IDFA when permitted by App Tracking Transparency). You can reset it or opt out of personalised ads any time from your device settings.
Premium users (when premium is enabled in a future update) will never see ads.
Stored on your device only
- Your language preference (English / 한국어 / 日本語).
- The ID of the last scene you played, so we can resume it.
- Your bedtime reminder time and on/off state.
- Per-layer volume levels from your last mix.
These are stored locally via Capacitor Preferences (which maps to iOS Keychain / Android SharedPreferences) and never leave your device.
What we don't collect
- Your name, email, or any contact information.
- Your precise location.
- Your contacts, photos, or files outside of the app's own storage.
- Audio recorded from your microphone.
- Health data, sensor data, or sleep recordings.
- Analytics events. We removed our analytics SDK before launch and currently do not record any usage data.
2. How we use it
Ad-related identifiers go to AdMob so the ads shown can be somewhat relevant rather than completely random. That's it. We don't sell data, we don't build user profiles, and we don't share Dozio data with anyone outside the third parties listed below.
3. Third-party services
Dozio sends data to the following third parties:
- Google AdMob (active) — for serving the bottom banner ad and the opt-in rewarded ads described above. AdMob may use a resettable advertising identifier per Google's policies. See AdMob's data disclosure.
- RevenueCat (not yet active) — will be enabled when premium features launch. RevenueCat handles subscription state and receipt validation. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
4. Permissions we request
- Notifications — only if you turn on the bedtime reminder. We use it to schedule a local reminder on your device at your chosen time. No push server is involved. You can revoke the permission any time in system settings.
- Background audio — so playback continues when your screen turns off or you switch apps. No data is collected while audio plays in the background.
5. Children
Dozio is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data to us, contact us and we will delete it.
6. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA / PIPA / APPI)
Because we don't collect personal identifiers and run no servers, there is no "account" to delete. The resettable advertising ID used by AdMob can be reset or limited from your device's privacy settings at any time.
Residents of the EU/EEA, UK, California, Korea, or Japan can still email us to request information about any data tied to their device. We will respond within 30 days.
7. Data retention
Dozio itself does not store anything on our servers. Data stored on your device stays until you uninstall Dozio or clear app storage. AdMob's retention of any ad-related identifiers is governed by Google's own retention policies.
8. Changes to this policy
We'll update this page if we add new data collection or change a third-party service. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will also be announced inside the app.
