Terms of Service
These are the terms you agree to when you install or use Dozio. We've kept them short and human, because sleep apps shouldn't come with a 40-page contract.
Dozio is operated by Adelie Studio, a one-person indie studio based in the Republic of Korea. "We", "us", and "Dozio" all refer to this same studio in the text below.
1. By using Dozio, you agree
Installing or opening the app means you accept these terms. If you don't accept them, please uninstall the app. We may update these terms occasionally; the date at the top is the latest revision.
2. What Dozio is, and isn't
Dozio plays ambient sounds to help you fall asleep. It is not a medical device and not a substitute for professional advice or treatment. If you have a sleep disorder, anxiety, or any other health condition, please consult a qualified healthcare professional.
Dozio does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. The bedtime reminder is a convenience, not a clinical intervention.
3. Your license to use Dozio
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to install and use Dozio on devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use. You don't get ownership of the app or its content — just permission to use it.
You may not:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract our audio files for redistribution.
- Resell, sublicense, or republish the app or its sounds.
- Use the app in any way that violates law or another person's rights.
- Attempt to circumvent ads or rewarded-ad mechanics through technical means.
4. Ads and the free tier
Dozio is free, supported by a small bottom banner ad and an optional rewarded ad you can choose to watch if you want to unlock unlimited playback for one session. We never show interstitial ads before bedtime.
When premium subscriptions are introduced in a future update, subscribers will have ads removed automatically.
5. Audio content
Sound layers are sourced from royalty-free libraries (primarily Pixabay's Content License) and processed in-house for seamless looping. You may listen freely. You may not extract or redistribute the processed files as standalone audio assets.
6. Subscriptions and purchases (when active)
The current release contains no paid features. When premium subscriptions launch in a future update, the following will apply:
- Subscriptions are billed through Apple's App Store or Google Play. Their respective terms govern payment, taxes, and refunds.
- Auto-renewal can be turned off at any time in your device's subscription settings.
- Refund requests must be made through Apple or Google. We cannot issue refunds on their behalf.
7. No warranty
Dozio is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available in every country. We disclaim, to the maximum extent allowed by your local law, all warranties — express, implied, or statutory — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, neither Adelie Studio nor anyone associated with us will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of Dozio. Our total liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or USD 10, whichever is greater.
Nothing in these terms limits liabilities that cannot be excluded under your local law (for example, gross negligence under EU law, or statutory consumer rights).
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Adelie Studio harmless from any claim or demand arising out of your misuse of the app or violation of these terms.
10. Termination
You can stop using Dozio any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, abuse the rewarded-ad mechanic, or violate applicable law. Sections intended to survive termination (warranties, liability, IP) will continue to apply.
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute should first be raised by emailing us — we try to resolve things informally. If a formal proceeding is required, the courts of Seoul, Korea have exclusive jurisdiction, unless your local consumer law gives you the right to use a court in your home country.
12. Changes
We'll update this page if the terms change. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced inside the app. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
